"My power is made perfect in weakness"

Image
I am going to be honest, this past month has been the hardest month for me to date. I have gone through so many highs and lows and it has left me feeling completely exhausted. I, like many others, for most of my life have tried to be perfect and have came up short every single time. I try so hard to be the "perfect daughter," the "perfect Christian," the "perfect student," the "perfect friend." I have learned lately that when you strive for perfection, you are going to end up disappointed every.single.time, because there is always going to be something that you are not perfect at-you might even be terrible at it.  My entire life (literally) I have said (you can ask anyone that is close to me and they can vouch for this) "I can't wait to be an "adult" and go to college and just GET ON WITH MY LIFE!" I have said this since I was like 11. Gosh, I didn't know what I was saying. The reason I put adult in quotation marks is ...

Are you running?

There are two types of people when God tells you to do something-those who obey and those who do not. In the Bible, there are many examples of this! I am going to be talking about two people today who reacted to God's calling in these two different ways- Abraham and Jonah.  In Genesis, (12:1-4) it records this, "Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him"  It goes on, but the main point I wanted to show here was: the Lord said "go" and so Abram went. Now lets look at the other story- Jonah's. Jonah 1:1-3, "Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son...

Who you are in Christ

Image
Who you are in Christ: You are loved-   (1 John 3:11) "For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another." You are forgiven- (1 John 1:9) "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." You are redeemed-  (Ephesians 1:7) "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." You are a new creation- (2 Corinthians 5:17) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." You are holy-  (Hebrews 10:10) "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." You are set apart- (Romans 8:30-39) "Moreover whom he did predestinate, then he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified: and whom he justified , them he also glorifi...

Wanna know how you can be saved?

Image
Since I put the link to this blog in my Instagram and Twitter bio, I have no idea who is seeing this. It could be anyone from anywhere in the world that has internet access. So! If you are seeing this and would like to accept Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior, below are verses that will help you do just that. The first is one of the most well-known verses that gives the Gospel: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 “Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the words I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.” Before you accept Christ, though, you must realize that you are a sinner. Roman 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of ...

"A new command I give you"

Hey, everyone! I hope that ya'll have been doing great..This week I have been on a social media fast, so it has been a minute since I posted my last blog. I was planning on making this post whenever I came back from the fast, and that is what the topic of this post was going to be about..I changed my mind, but I will sum up how this week has been before getting into what I am going to actually talk about.  This week has been so refreshing and definitely much needed. So often, the first thing we do when we wake up is reach for our phone's and it was great not doing that this week...The reason I decided not to make that the main theme of this, though, was that talking about social media takes the focus off of Jesus and that is not what I am here to do. I feel called to lead whoever I can to God. Today, I am going to talk about a passage of Scripture that has always blown my mind and shows the true character of Jesus Christ perfectly.  John 13. In John 13, Jesus tells all a...

Religion < Relationship

Image
I saw a quote the other day on Facebook that said, "Growing closer to Jesus isn't a result of trying harder, it's a result of surrendering more." I reposted it and said, "Religion < Relationship. Religion brings stress; relationship brings peace. I didn't think much about it, but later on I thought to myself, "Some people are probably thinking what is she talking about? Of course Christianity is a religion. She is just one of those crazy Jesus people." That is how I got the inspiration for this post. What if I were to tell you that Jesus Himself HATED religion? Lets just look at Matthew 15: 1-20.. It is a little lengthy but it will all tie together after you read this passage of Scripture: "Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, "Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don't wash their hands before they eat!" Jesus replied, " And why do you break the com...

For I know the plans

Image
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” -Jeremiah 29:11 (esv) I am not going to start this blog post out the way you think that I am. I’m not going to just simply tell you what Jeremiah 29:11 says and tell you that if you just believe that then your life will be great. I am actually going to start by saying this verse is one of the biggest verses that people love to take out of context... This verse is read and taught to others almost 100% of the time as a verse that is to be read as a PERSONAL promise from God to you and I. But the problem with this is that it ignores who it was actually written for. Jeremiah 29:11 is arguably the most well known verse after John 3:16 and that is saying a lot. You see it all the time. Why do people love this verse so much? I think it is because when their life isn’t going the way they would like for it to, they want to know that God has a method to the madn...
